ORBITAL SHAKER

Model No:GIC-816

An orbital shaker features a heavy-duty motorized base connected to a flat oscillating platform. The platform is outfitted with anti-slip mats, spring rollers, or dedicated flask clamps to firmly secure various types of laboratory glassware like Erlenmeyer flasks, test tube racks, or microplates.

By shifting fluid in a continuous orbit, the instrument continuously washes solute boundaries and facilitates high oxygen transfer rates (OTR). This makes it perfectly suited for sensitive cell and microbe cultivation, staining/de-staining blots, and chemical dissolution assays. Premium models include microprocessor controls, brushless DC (BLDC) motors, and triple-eccentric counterbalanced drives to maintain vibration-free, continuous operation even at maximum load capacities.

Product Information

Kinematic & Movement Specifications

The performance and mixing behavior of an orbital shaker rely heavily on its orbit diameter (amplitude) and rotational speed.

Property Standard Technical Range
Motion Type Horizontal Circular Orbital Action
Speed Range Variable from 30 to 300 RPM (up to 500 RPM on specialized microplate models)
Rotational Accuracy ± 1 RPM (microprocessor PID control)
Orbit Diameter (Amplitude) 10 mm to 25 mm (Medium general-purpose standard); 50 mm for large shear-sensitive cell vessels
Timer Range 1 minute up to 999 hours or continuous run mode

2. Structural & Electrical Configurations

  • Motor Technology: Advanced Brushless DC (BLDC) or frequency conversion inverter motors. They ensure a long lifecycle, eliminate carbon dust contamination, reduce overall noise levels, and require zero routine maintenance.
  • Drive Mechanics: Triple-eccentric or single-shaft balanced counterweights. This mechanism prevents the shaker from "walking" across lab benches and minimizes wear on mechanical bearings. [
  • Chamber/Platform Materials: Platforms are typically machined from high-grade corrosion-resistant 304 Stainless Steel or structural Aluminum sheets lined with silicone rubber grips.
  • Power Inputs: Standard laboratory AC 220V–240V at 50/60 Hz.

3. Safety & Smart Monitoring Specifications

  • Acceleration Control: Smooth-start circuits accelerate the motor incrementally over several seconds. This mechanism prevents abrupt torque spikes from tipping over tall flasks or splashing corrosive chemical solutions.
  • Power Disruption Recovery: Automatic resumption memory. If the lab suffers a power failure, the microprocessing unit automatically restarts the preset time and RPM program the moment power is restored.
  • Protective Hardware Sensors: Overspeed sound/light alarms, motor overload triggers, and imbalance sensors that immediately cut operation if the system identifies unsafe physical forces.
